Time to bloast (blog, boast, post) get it? My God, I'm a genius!
Do you remember the feeling of excitement you used to get, when you put your fifty cents in one of those prize machines out the front of the supermarket? Will it be gum (hope not)? Will it be a super bouncy ball (acceptable, good for throwing at my brother) or, will it be the holly grail of gum ball machine toy's, the nickle and glass, one size fit's all (if your a five year old midget) princess ring!
Today, I got the ring! Actually it's not a ring, it's a necklace, and not just a necklace, but a wearable piece of art called 'Colourful Bucket' by artisit Deirdre Hoban.
Deirdre is participating in the Insert Coin Here group exhibition as part of the 2010 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural program.
Curated by Nella Themelios and Kim Brockett of Craft Victoria, the exhibition brings together 60 local artist and designers to produce over 600 mini pieces of wearable or fashion inspired art. The Insert Coin Here vending machines contain the limited edition 'fashion objects' which are randomly dispensed when a member of the public inserts a $2 coin. The machines will be placed in the following locations over the month of march, but get in quick as this week's quota had all but sold out by lunch time today when I got mine!!!!!
Tue 8 March - Sat 13 March Captains of Industry: Level 1, 2 Somerset Place, Melbourne (off Little Bourke Street)
Mon 22 March - Wed 31 March The Thousands Shop: Level 6, Curtin House, 252 Swanston Street, Melbourne
