flea market finds

 fish tank snow dome

a selection of vintage coat hangers

hot pink, little girls, woollen jumper

mid century teak and ceramic salad servers

Just a few thrifty finds this week, I found a bunch more but photographing anything in this dreary Melbourne weather is next to impossible when you're snapping pictures on your phone.

After an incredibly long and busy week I'm quite of the mind to put my feet up with a pot of tea and do some hand sewing for the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately though, we have a bunch of family arriving on Tuesday from Perth and Japan. There are so many jobs that need doing before then, I fear my little 'rest fest' 'tis likely to remain a fantasy. The biggest job is by far turning the sewing room/guest bedroom into somewhere nice for my Aunt and Uncle to sleep. The last couple of months have seen it fill up quite satisfactorily with thrifty items for my market stall but now they need to move to there temporary home on the garage, which means i need to clean the garage out.....oh crap, enough blogging time to get back to work.

For more thrifty finds pop over and visit Sophie from Her Library Adventures and Apron Thrift Girl.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Folks :)

  1. Definitely clean out the sewing room. Don't want Uncle's bottom to inadvertantly become a pin cushion! Youch!

  4. your flea market finds are all great Estelle (I have a soft spot for that snow dome as I've got a little collection of them going on...) but what I REALLY like is that deer head barometer in the background. Nice.

  6. Oh those salad servers would look right at home in a big wooden bowl wouldn't they? Dreary here today too which makes me long for summer tomatoes and a crisp salad ...

  7. If I was your auntie I would positively relish sleeping in Steptoe's yard/your spare room as is, but then I like nothing more than nosing through other people's vintage finds (Thanks internet!). However, I appreciate others like a bed which isn't covered in crochetd coat hangers...

  11. Noice salad servers, I am glad someone else like s the old teak implements as well. I empathise with you problem re the spare room. I can barely open the door to mine, and we just recently built a garage to put my 'junk' in or as Americans call it my 'inventory.'It is so exhausting moving it all...baby steps.
